Halloween Mantel
Decorating our house for different holidays and seasons is something that I have always loved to do, especially Halloween (and Christmas). Last year, with Riley just a newborn though, my priorities were clearly not on decorating at all - I simply did not have the time.
So, this year, I just had to decorate for this fun holiday and get my home into the Halloween spirit!!!
Here's a photo of my festive mantel:
The cute "BOO!" Halloween banner was something I was able to put together and make pretty quickly thanks to a free printable Halloween banner kit from Chickabug that I found via Pinterest. I love that once Halloween is over, I'll be able to simply take down the banner and it will still look great for the Fall season or I can easily just make a new banner for Thanksgiving, as well.
Have you decorated for Halloween yet?

Holiday Cards from Shutterfly {+ a Giveaway}
You've probably noticed, as I have, that a lot of stores have already begun putting out their Christmas and holiday items. Many photographers are booking family holiday photo sessions, too. Sure, it's not even Halloween yet, but the holidays are right around the corner and they'll be here before we know it.
One of my favorite things that I always look forward to about preparing for the holidays is selecting which Christmas Cards to send out to family and friends. Sure, there may still be a couple months until Christmas, but there never seems to be enough time in a day and sometimes events/things just sort of sneak up on me before I get everything done (especially with a little one now!), so I definitely need to plan ahead so that I’m not stressing out as Christmas nears.
Recently, I've been eye-balling the fantastic new collection of holiday cards at Shutterfly! They have a ton of cute holiday card designs to choose from in a variety of styles - from traditional to modern, and I'm loving so many of them! Narrowing down my selection is going to be the toughest part!
Be sure to check out Shutterfly's special offers for some great deals on photo cards, calendars, photo books, and more!

Awesome Clearance Find @ Walmart - Garanimals Jeggings for $1
While shopping at Walmart for odds and ends the other night, I browsed the clearance area and found two pairs of Garanimals denim knit jeggings for just a $1 each (reg. $5)!!! One pair is black and the other is indigo denim. They are too cute!
But, of course, they contain polyester, which is a material we have to watch out for with Riley's eczema. At that price though, I just had to pick them up! I plan on giving them as a gift to my niece.

Birthday Cake
After checking with a local bakery to see if they could make a dairy-free and peanut-free cake for Riley's birthday, I found out that they don't actually bake the cake themselves (they have them shipped to them) and they only decorate them. So, I decided to bake a cake from scratch to insure that it's free from certain allergies/irritants.
I found the perfect recipe online and tried it out. I don't normally make too many things from scratch, but this one went pretty well. Once the cake was done, I decorated it was rosettes.
And since this my first real time decorating a cake, and I'm pretty proud of myself and the way it turned out. Everyone that I showed it to said that they really liked it.
