No Slippy Hair Clippy Review & Giveaway *Closed*

Riley doesn't have much hair yet, but hair bows are already a must for my little fashionista (even though they're sometimes hard to stay in)! No outfit is complete without the perfect hair bow. Riley has a bow or headband in her hair every time we go out. Why? Because they just look so stinkin' cute! Plus, this momma loves her baby girl looking super girlie and not being mistaken for a boy (yes, it has happened more than once…and one time she was even wearing a dress…HELLO people…)! Of course, I think she's adorable on her own, without any bows or other hair "pretties," but somehow she's even more adorable when she does wear them.

So, if you're like me and love having your daughter look girlie to the max, No Slippy Hair Clippy has you covered. No Slippy Hair Clippy carries a variety of baby hair accessories, including headbands, hair clips, and more! Plus, their patent pending design allows the clips to stay in place and not slip, which is perfect for those little ones who have very fine/thin hair or who don't yet have much at all. They also offer hair accessories for girls, teens, and women! All of their products are hand-crafted in the USA, too!

About No Slippy Hair Clippy:
Our first "no-slip hair clip" was invented out of sheer frustration in 2000. It took a mom with an almost-bald baby girl to invent a hair clip that would stay securely in place and look cute. For countless generations, baby girls have often been mistaken for boys, and until No Slippy Hair Clippy® opened its doors in 2001, you couldn’t find a hair accessory created specifically to stay in baby-fine hair. Thanks to us, your daughter’s generation no longer has to worry about being mistaken for a BOY!

Our hair clips are quite unique, with a patent pending. Originally designed with a magnet to enhance the hold, we now use a more expensive Plush Swiss Velvet wrapped completely around the metal clip, to provide an identical snug, secure grip. It’s now lighter weight, and so soft she won’t even know it’s there! Our clips won’t hurt if she pulls them out, either, and because we use the highest quality clips available, they don’t bend easily, like others do. Truly the world’s finest non-slip clip®!

Over time, we have continued to grow and to add new products, and we now design hair accessories for girls, teens and women, as well as babies. We offer three different sizes and types of clips; a Mini, a Standard Pinch, and a French Clip for girls of all ages with lots of hair. All are non-slip clips®, and they also won't slide in fine hair of any length. We also offer no-slip headbands, including an organic cotton head wrap, the first of its kind!

No Slippy Hair Clippy® has been nominated every year since 2005 by retailers across the US for the prestigious "Earnie" award for design excellence, and is also a celebrity favorite, photographed often in Hollywood and around the world on celebrities and their children alike.

And now (because we can't help setting trends), a new line of Clipettes™ using our tried and true manufacturing methods with different no-slip materials, is making its debut as a value-based division of No Slippy Hair Clippy®.

My Thoughts!
No Slippy Hair Clippy sent a few of their most popular clips for Miss Riley to try. And they are definitely cute!!! We received Presley in orange/turquoise, Emily in pearl pink, Clipettes Dots in white, and Belinda in turquoise.

Let me just say that I adore all of the No Slippy Hair Clippy hair clips we received! A lot of hair clips and accessories seem to slide out just as quickly as we place them in Riley's hair, but not these clips! The No Slippy Hair Clippy hair clips are true to their name. I was amazed that they stay in place so well. Plus, Riley looks absolutely precious wearing them!

Presley is a 1 ¼” mini clip lined with orange velvet and is embellished with a little orange/turquoise butterfly applique. The velvet lining makes the clip super soft and helps it stay in place. The mini clip is just the perfect size for little ones. Emily is a 1 ¾” pinch clip lined with pink velvet and adorned with a 2” pink grosgrain bow. The simple, classic grosgrain bow makes Emily one of my favorite No Slippy Hair Clippy clips! The Clipettes Dots are a pair of 1 ¾” pinch clips fully lined with an adorable white/pink polka dot printed grosgrain ribbon. Another of my favorites, is Belinda, which is a turquoise/lime green flower placed on a 2 ⅜” french clip.

In addition to the clips, they also sent a pretty pink ribbon so that we can clip the new hair clips on it to keep them organized and all in one place. Love it!

And now its time for Riley to show off a few of her new adorable No Slippy Hair Clippy hair clips! Check out her cuteness in the photos below:

Overall, I'm really happy with the hair clips from No Slippy Hair Clippy! (And so is Riley! Just check out those sweet smiles!) As you can see, the clips are indeed really cute! But what I love most is that they actually do stay in place even in Riley's baby fine hair! I definitely plan on buying some more of their hair accessories in the future, especially a headband or two.

Spring Table Setting

My mom and sister have been so helpful with Riley, so we decided to put together a little lunch for them as a way to say thank you.

I decorated the table with a color scheme of pink, blue, and white - perfect for spring! I even used the tissue paper flowers that I made which I had left over from my birthday party.

I think it turned out really cute! And they thought it was a lovely surprise.

Wrapping Paper Photography Backdrop

I'm sure many of you are in the same boat - I've become utterly obsessed with Pinterest! Its definitely a time-stealer, thats for sure, but there are always so many great ideas from organiztion to crafts and more! I love it! There are so many things I want to try or do after seeing them on Pinterest, but there seems never enough time to do all things I'd like.

One thing I really wanted to try was wrapping paper as a backdrop for photography.

I had some green gift wrap in my stash that I thought would look gorgeous as a background (I've also bought some cute and girlie patterned ones recently from Hallmark, but I have yet to try them out). I taped the wrapping paper to the wall in the corner of our living room.

Here's a peak at how one of the many photos I took turned out with the wrapping paper backdrop:

Pink is my favorite color, and this template couldn't be more perfect for my blog. Isn't it adorable?! They have quite a few that I really liked, but this one really caught my eye. Riley is 6 months old!

Riley is 6 months old and seems to be turning into such a big girl!

She wears 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.

She weighs 14 lb. 4 oz and is 26 inches long (head circumference - 16.5 in.).

She loves blowing raspberries.

Bath time is one of her favorite activities, as well as mauling Sophie (the giraffe).

She is such a happy and sociable baby, but when she is bad, she's real bad (LOL!).

She recently started to learn how to throw fits.

She now makes new sounds and faces to show when she's not very happy.

She loves standing and dancing (with assistance, of course).

Shes loves to laugh.

We swear she said her first words on Friday: "Oh, mama."

She absolutely hates taking naps. She fights off sleep for as long as possible, as though she doesn't want to miss out on anything. When she does nap, they seem to be short "cat naps."

She has started having stranger anxiety around some people.

We have a million nicknames for her. Some of them are: boog, boogie, booger, chunk-a-monk, aj, and junior. Her aunt calls her stinky.

She likes to wears hair bows and accessories, but completely hates wearing socks or shoes (she'll work them off within seconds of putting them on).

We're still waiting for that first tooth but enjoying those adorable toothless smiles.

She likes people to make crazy/silly faces at her -- smiles and giggles will ensue.

Foods that she has tried so far have been: green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, squash, and bananas. She has been allergic/intolerant to everything, except the sweet potatoes.

Her eczema is starting to look better.

She still loves to be swaddled and sleeps well through the night, just waking up for one feeding during the night.

Shes REALLY loves the TV. In fact, watching television may be her favorite pastime.

Most days, she's got her own unique hair style going on.

She's a little fashionista already and seems to prefer me without my glasses. She lets me know by pulling them off my face constantly.

She is the most precious baby in the whole world, and we love her SO much!

Easter Basket

I love Pottery Barn and looking through their catalogs is always something I enjoy. I wish I could decorate my entire home with their products (and, you know, have my house filled with beautifully decorated rooms like you see in the catalog, too). I've always been happy with the items that we have bought from PB, so when I saw their adorable Easter baskets featured in a recent catalog, I fell in love with them and knew I had to get one for Riley for her first Easter. The only problem was deciding which one to get because they were all so cute! Of course, once I finally decided which one I liked best and went online to order it, it was already sold out. (This somehow always seems to happen to me. I like something online, go to order it, and its completely gone. Does this always happen to you, too?)

Anyway, since I couldn't get the PB Easter basket, I decided to just make one myself. I knew mine would be really cute (perhaps even cuter!) because I'd be choosing the fabric that I'd be using. Plus, it would end up costing less (saving money is always nice), and it gives me a reason to have some fun crafty time!

I found a fabric basket tutorial online (hopefully, I'll update this post with a link to it later on...) and it made this project easy peasy! The toughest part was probably selecting which fabric to use! I just couldn't find what I was hoping to get at the fabric store because our local JoAnn's store was closing (this was a complete surprise, but we later learned that they're opening up a new store in a different part of town) and they didn't have much of a selection left. I ended up going with a pink patterned fabric that I already had in my fabric stash at home and a green patterned fabric that I purchased from Hobby Lobby.

I thought it'd be cute to have Riley's name embroidered on the basket, but I don't own an embroidery machine. However, my aunt happens to have one (a really cool one that I'm completely jealous of) and was kind enough to embroider Riley's name on the fabric for me (Thanks, Aunt Vickie!!!).

A little bit of work...

And the final result...an adorable basket!

I love it and think it turned out really nicely! Plus, I love that after Easter, it will look super cute in Riley's room and be great for a bit more storage for her small toys, teethers, etc.

What do you think? You like it? Will you be making (or have you alerady made) any special Easter or spring projects?
